The City of Yuba City Development Services Department has been working on innovative solutions to support the community better throughout the business and development processes. Under the direction of the City Council the Development Liaison position was established, and Ashley Potocnik was hired for that role to serve as the point of contact for the department to help facilitate coordination between City departments and the community.
The newest initiative that Ashley is working on is called: You Can! with Yuba City
The first phase of the initiative is to bring awareness to the public to make it clear to the community that they can call Ashley for answers, and they’ll be met by a warm and timely response. The second phase will involve webpage development and integration with pending Open Counter software that is planned to begin in late spring 2023.
What is You Can! with Yuba City?
You Can! is a City of Yuba City business support initiative that prioritizes the community and businesses in Yuba City. It is a support network that emphasizes connections, communication, collaboration, and customer service. You Can! is here to help the community do business with Yuba City in the smoothest way possible.
Why does this matter?
The business and development process can be complicated, but with this support initiative we’re planning to work hand in hand with customers, business owners, developers, business professionals, etc. to help simplify the process as much as possible. This may be by helping to facilitate project reviews, accelerating permitting/licensing, streamlining the application process, maintaining efficient project communication, navigating regulations, or simply clarifying the many procedures that are involved with business and development.
How can the community get involved?
The City wants to talk shop with businesses and developers in the community, so we have scheduled nine (9) Shop Talk sessions throughout the year. Shop Talks are planned to be recurring free sessions open to the public and tailored to area business owners, professionals, and developers. These sessions are a great way for the community to tap into the City’s support network. The first Shop Talk will be hosted at Bridge Coffee Co. Clark Avenue on Wednesday morning, January 11th from 7-8 am. See the flyers attached for additional information.
